Detail :

There are many George Greenalls listed on the CWGC site. It is convenient to link his association with the 2nd Bn Royal Scots, so his relative date of birth and age give good corroborative evidence to narrow down the list to GREENALL, GEORGE Private 6301 16/07/1916 36 Royal Scots United Kingdom Pier and Face 6 D and 7 D. There should be no doubt that George Greenall was in the ambulatory lodge of the 2nd Bn, The Royal Scots. He was initiated in 1908, but his record does not appear to have all dues paid with an annotation "Serving Brother by Dispensation". With no disposal on the 1887-1909 ledger, strangely, George is not transferred to the 1910-1921 ledgers, making it impossible to determine how his membership turned out.

The soldiers effects records also links in William Greenall of the Royal Scots, a serving sergeant in 1908, is not only his familial brother, but also his masonic brother.
