Natural causes is attributed those deaths due to causes that were not directly associated with the war. Included in this are wartime deaths resulting from, for example, theSpanish Influenza pandemic and its associated pneumonia problems and other attributions such as age and exhaustion. It also groups those who through Post Traumatic Stress committed suicide as a result of their experiences.

Detail :

Lieutenant, Royal Naval Reserve. Died of Pneumonia at Oban College Hospital whilst serving with HMS Leda.

He was awarded the Order of St. Stanislas (3rd Class with Swords).

His is buried at St. James Churchyard, Enfield, where the inscription on his headstone reads:
"In loving memory of
Lieut. Archibald George Ranson, R.N.R.
who died at Oban whilst serving his country
January 11th. 1919, aged 31 years.
"He livest most who lovest most,
Thinks the noblest, acts the best."

The 1921 and 1940 Roll of Honour Works both list as RANSOM, but investigation shows this to be "Ranson." George is listed in the Guelph Lodge records as a Lieut [RofI?] resident at Enfield. He was initiated in 1916 and advanced no further than that of Entered Apprentice. The contribution record show his war service followed by Died Jan '19."
