Son of John and Miriam Stockhausen, of Stewart Town, Trelawney, Jamaica, British West Indies.

Ivan Lancelot Stockhausen was born and brought up in Jamaica where his family owned sugar plantations.

Action : Salonika 

In October 1915 a combined Franco-British force of some two large brigades was landed at Salonika (today called Thessalonika) with the objective to help the Serbs in their fight against Bulgarian aggression. However before they could be employed the Serbs were beaten. Over the next three years the Salonika front was static, with heavily fortified trench lines, and only minor adjustments by both sides. More troops were sent to Salonika particularly after the withdrawal from Gallipoli. Disease and climate were no lesser enemies than the Turks.

Joined up in 1915 aged 25. Arrived in UK with British West India Regiment. Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant, Dec 1915. Attached to 17 Squadron, RFC Nov 1916. Gazetted Flying Officer March 6th 1917. Gazetted Lt (BWI & RFC) July 1st 1917.

He joined the British West India Regiment, came with it to Britain in 1915 and was gazetted a second lieutenant that December. He transferred to the Royal Flying Corps in November 1916 where he served with 17 Squadron on reconnaissance and scout duties on the Struma front in Salonika.

Stockhausen and his twenty-year-old fellow airman Lieutenant Charles Victor MacGregor Watson were killed in aerial combat over enemy lines near Seres on 3 October 1917.

Out in Macedonia, 17 and 47 Squadron have been carrying out work of reconnaissance and bombing raids on German aerodromes.

On the day, the prominent German ace in the area Rudolph Von Eschwege, from FAb30 claimed his 16th victory when he shot down a BE2e from 17 Squadron RFC near Sarmusakli, East of the lines.
