Son of Robert Young and Alice Eliza Young.

On 22nd April, 1919 he married Ida Louisa Browett (b.1889–d.1976)

Buried at Northern Cemetery, Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand.

He is commemorated for his service on the Auckland Museum Online Cenotaph.
