Early Life :

Born Lenton, Nottinghamshire c.1892, son of Elizabeth and William Archibald Appleton. In 1911 he was 19 and working as a Bookkeeper/Clerk whilst living with family at The Laurels, Kelvedon Common, Brentwood.

By 1939, he was living with his wife at 105 Hankinson Road, Bournemouth and working as a Cleansing Inspector.

Although many perished in times of national conflict and in the service of their country, many more survived including those interned as Prisoners of War.
