Action : Natural Causes 

Natural causes is attributed those deaths due to causes that were not directly associated with the war. Included in this are wartime deaths resulting from, for example, theSpanish Influenza pandemic and its associated pneumonia problems and other attributions such as age and exhaustion. It also groups those who through Post Traumatic Stress committed suicide as a result of their experiences.

[AWMM] From the Military Personnel File. "This gentleman is a New Zealander and has come to England at his own expense to do what he could at his profession for the sick New Zealand Soldiers in England. From January, 1916, he has been attached to the Medical Staff [at Grey Towers Camp,] Hornchurch for nearly 4 months, during which time he has done excellent work and has proved indefatigable in his labours." Worked as a Civillian Dentist at the New Zealand (Command) Depot, Hornchurch from the 13th of January 1916, under the authority of the High Commissioner. He was then taken on the strength of the Dental Corp with the rank of honorary Lieutenant dated 18th May, 1916. He was promoted to Captiain on 18th May, 1917 correspnding with his service with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force Dental Corps.

Court Martial Held at Etaples, 22nd August 1917, 'When on Active Service, conduct to the prejudice of good order and Military discipline, in that he, at Etaples, on the 1st August 1917, became unfit for duty, by reason of previous indulgence in alcoholic stimulants.' Wyett pleaded not guilty but was found guilty and sentence to be dismissed from His Majesty's Service as from 22nd of August 1917.

Re-enlisted with the New Zealand Army Service Corp as a driver for Mechanical Transport. Recieved a temporary commission as Lieutenant for Transport duty on the S.S. Rimutaka as a Dental Officer. He may have also seen servicce with the Wairarapa Mounted Rifles.

Initiated into Warner Lodge No. 2256, aged 33, at Chingford in Essex and was recorded on the ledger as a Surgeon Dentist, resident at Hornchurch. He had taken all his ceremonial by 15 November, 1916 receiving his Grand Lodge Certificate in December of the same year. He maintained his membership for 5 years, resigning 16th March, 1921.

He joined Edward the Confessor Lodge No. 3782 at Hornchurch, Essex on 31st March, 1917 less than a year after its consecration. He is recorded as an Army Officer. His time in this lodge was short-lived as it remarks that he resigned (with many others - so probably a correction to the records) on 16th January, 1919 and also on the same line that he was excluded under Rule 175.

Charles died, aged 52, following an emergency intervention on 5th October, 1935, where it is reported that his wrist had been cut, presumably with a razor. [Telegraph PA]. At the time of his death he was living at Lower Hutt City, Wellington NZ and is interred at Karori Cemetery and Crematorium.
