Although many perished in times of national conflict and in the service of their country, many more survived including those interned as Prisoners of War. He attested 14th January, 1941 for service in WW2 citing "formerly a Captain with 4 years" previous experience prior to WW1.
Received an MBE in the 1919 New Years Honours list.
He is commemorated for his service on the Auckland Museum Online Cenotaph.
