Early Life :

Born Bolton, Lancashire in 1914 son of H. Bellis and Mrs. Worsley.

Educated at Dover College, Priory House 1928 – 1932 and at Worcester College, Oxford University. Registered as a medical student 31st October, 1935 studying at Charing Cross Hospital. By 1940 he was a qualified Doctor, M.R.C.P (Eng) and L.R.C.P.

He married Barbara Irene nee Richards in December 1941.

104181 Flight Lieutenant Gordon Worsley Bellis, 114th Squadron, Royal Air Force (Volunteer Reserve). Served with the Central Mediterranean Forces and killed on active service in Sicily, 17th September, 1943. A redacted search artefact of the British Medical Journal suggests he was killed in a "flying accident."

Probate BELLIS Gordon Worsley of 11 Elm-avenue Ruislip Middlesex died 17 September 1943 on war service Administration Leicester 6 January to Barbara Irene Bellis widow. Effects £314 10s 4d.

He is interred at Catania War Cemetery, Sicily. Plot I.A.45.

Commemorated on the Dover College school chapel 1939-1945 memorial and also the King's College Chapel.

Gordon was one of 177 Old Dovorians who lost their life in the Second World War, and one of two from the Old Dovorian Lodge No. 5647. He was the 3rd Initiate of the Old Dovorian Lodge, initiated 26th May, 1937.

Sergeant (Pilot) Patrick Ian Watson Parker, RAFVR, Killed 13th July 1940. (10th Battle of Britain pilot to be killed).
W. Bro. Herbert Woodroffe Colliver lost one son:
Lieutenant Anthony Edward Colliver of the Royal Tank Regiment, 6th December 1941.
