He was a Petty Officer based in Halifax in 1914 when initiated into Freemasonry.

He came to Canada in 1910 and served on both HMCS Niobe (1911) and HMCS Rainbow (1 January 1918) within the Royal Canadian Navy. He died on 29 August 1921 in Esquimalt, British Columbia.

The names of those brethren who fell are taken from the monument formerly located in the foyer of the Masonic Hall on Barrington Street, which now resides in the banquet room of the Masonic Hall on Coronation Avenue in Halifax, NS.

He is referred to as “Alfred Thomas Peace” on the Halifax Freemason’s Hall memorial and "Alfred Thomas Pearse" in the Contribution Registers, which also annotates the date of death as "1/1/20."
