Robert James Roberts – Robert Roberts was born on 1 March 1886 in Blackburn, Lancashire, England. He served two years and 301 days in the 2nd Battalion, The Manchester Regiment in England prior to coming to Canada in 1907. He was a Gardener by trade, and enlisted in The Royal Canadian Regiment on 23 August 1915 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. His address upon discharged on 28 May 1920 was the “RCR Regt, Halifax, NS.” He died on Phthisis on 24 April 1921. His parents are David and Sarah Roberts, 32 Kirkham Lane, Blackburn, Lancashire, England.

He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal, 1914/15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal.

The names of those brethren who fell are taken from the monument formerly located in the foyer of the Masonic Hall on Barrington Street, which now resides in the banquet room of the Masonic Hall on Coronation Avenue in Halifax, NS. (He is referred to as “Robert John Roberts” on the Halifax Freemason’s Hall memorial)
