They lived in the Lewisham area of London, but had been stationed in Sutton Coldfield in 1917 when his wife passed away.

Their son, 2nd Lieutenant Noel Fisher McCarthy of the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on the family at Sutton Coldfield.
