Action : The Final Advance in Artois 

The Final Advance in Artois occured 2nd October - 11th November 1918. Concurrently with the advances in the Somme and Arras sectors the First and Fifth British Armies continued the advance and chase the Germans back towards the Belgian border.

BMJ; 18/10/1919 Re Military Cross award Temporary Captain Cedrio Lewis Dold, R.A.M.C., attached lst Battallon South Wales Borderers. Throughout the operations near Pontruet and Thorigny, on September 29th to 30th. 1918, he carried out his work with great gallafitry and devotion to duty. He constantly visited the front line uinder heavy machine-gun and shell fire to personally superintend the evacuation of the wounded, and never spared himself for a a moment in anything that could promote the welfare of the babtalon. CAPTAIN C. L. DOLD, R.A.M.C. Captain Cedric Lewis Dold, R A.M.C., was reported as killed in action, in tlle casualty list published on October 22nd. He was educated at Edinburghi University, wlhere he graduated M.B. and Ch.B. in 1914, took a temporary commission as lieutenant in the R.A.M.C. on August 12th, 1914, and was promoted to captain on com. pletion of a year's service. He was attached to the Soutli Wales Borderers (24th Foot) when killed.

War Diary for the 1st Bn, South Wales Borderes on the 5th October 1918 shows: "4th/5thThe Battalion Area was relieved during the night by the australians and moved back into Brigade Reserve. Brigade Reserve: 5th : The Battalion Area was shelled rather badly at intervals during the day. Captain C.L. Dold, R.A.M.C. was killed and Captain H.C.S. Davies Lieut. W.J. Whyte, and 2nd Lieut. T.C. Lloyd (since died of wounds) were wounded."
