 Wrecksite EU: MERTON HALL CARGO SHIP 1889-1918 - On February 11th, 1918, Merton Hall, on a voyage from New York to La Pallice with a cargo of Steel, was she was torpedoed without warning and sunk by the German submarine U-53 (Hans Rose), 30 miles NxW from Ushant (Ouessant). 57 persons were lost including Master.
