 Mike: Boynton was a 2578 grt steamer owned by Morgan & Cadogan Limited of Cardiff. The ship was built in 1892. She was torpedoed and sunk with the loss of 23 lives including that of her master on September 25, 1917 by UC 47 while on a voyage from Manchester for France with general cargo. I have the position of loss as being in the Lands End area (given variously as 5 miles WNW from Cape Cornwall, 4 miles N of Lands End, 12 miles NW Lands End 50?05.43'N 05?55.30'W)
